What Is It? NextStepIP consists of a high-end Internet camera you can view and control from any PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Android with real-time camera pan & tilt controls.
Check in on the camera and control it from anywhere in the world at anytime with no monthly fees. For viewing, as long as your mobile device or computer is on-line (3G/4G/Wi-Fi) you can view the camera.
How Does It Work? The camera connects to your router either by ethernet cable or wireless network (wi-fi). Since the camera is connected to the Internet, you can monitor from thousands of miles away as long as your mobile device or computer has Internet access. Native Apple and Android apps are used to view and control your camera from your mobile device providing an unparalleled user experience.
Endless Applications: Monitor around the house or check in on the baby sitter while out for an evening. You can also check on your little one from work. Others use NextStepIP to monitor elderly loved ones and to keep an eye on pets. The mobile smart phone capability is huge as you don't have to be at a computer to monitor.
The Camera: It starts with a solid IP camera. This means the camera operates without the need to be connected to a computer unlike with other systems. Who wants to run an Internet connected PC in the baby's room 24 hrs a day? With the NextStepIP system you don't. Our package includes the latest 2012 Foscam Professional IP Camera, streaming live 420p HD video with audio. The camera operates wirelessly on your wi-fi network or wired to your router. Camera power is provided by the included AC adapter.
Pan + Tilt + Presets: Pan-n-tilt the camera from your mobile device or Internet browser. You can also aim the camera in a certain direction and define that position as a preset. You can then recall that preset and the camera lens automatically swings to that location. For example, have a pre-set for the crib and another for the doorway and so on. Plus digital zoom (available only when monitoring from a mobile device) lets you get in extra close with "pinch-and-zoom" functionality!
Night Vision: This latest camera model offers true IR Night Vision giving the you the ability to see in pitch black conditions. The camera employs built-in IR illuminators which shine light that's invisible to human eyes. Toggle the night vision on and off from your mobile device or Internet browser. No need to disturb your sleeping baby with bright lights, the NextStepIP System sees in the dark.
Screen Disable: For monitoring at night most parents like to turn off or dim the screen on their mobile device while still listening to the camera audio. Audio Test Report: Audio on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is good, and now two-way audio is available. Note that audio quality on any internet based system will not be as good as that on a standard (non-internet) baby monitor.

Screen Disable Test Report: Customizable screen timeout setting. Audio also works while app is in the background (iOS 4 or newer). Audio continues to stream if you exit the app and launch other tasks (check email, use Safari, etc). Audio stops if interrupted by other sounds (phone call, etc). This will be addressed in a future app update.

Audio Test Report: In our Android tests the audio works great, and has very good volume. We've found newer Android phones with faster processors provide the smoothest audio quality. Some older (slower) models can sometimes have "pops" and "clicks" present in the audio stream due to the processor not being able to keep up. There is support for two-way audio on Android.

Screen Disable Test Report: Application has setting for auto dimming the screen with a customizable timeout time. Select the level of dimming up to 90% dim, and any interaction brightens the screen back to normal.

New Browser Support: Now view the camera using Internet Explorer, Safari, FireFox or Chrome Internet browsers. No software is required to view the camera from a computer, just a standard browser. With no software to install, easily let Grandma view your camera from her computer.
Audio: When viewing with the Internet Explorer browser there is full audio. There is no audio when viewing on browsers other than Internet Explorer. Other browsers provide full camera control and video, however audio is unavailable.

Audio Test Report: Using Internet Explorer the audio is loud and clear. Internet Explorer also provides support for two-way audio.

Screen Disable Test Report: For desktop computers, simply turn off your monitor. For laptops you can dim or disable the screen under your power settings.

 Security: Always a large concern for our customers. The NextStepIP System provides 100% secured password-protected video & audio. You create and control user accounts on your camera so only those you give the password to have access. The camera is never available to the public. Make multiple user accounts and control their access. A log allows you to see who has logged in and when.
Record: When using the Internet Explorer web browser you can record the video feed. There is no recording support on other browsers. Video files are saved locally to the computer in an .avi format. Also take snapshots (still photos) of the video while monitoring by mobile device or computer. Send a loved one a text message with a snapshot of your video feed attached.
Advanced Features: The camera has the ability to send you a notification email when it detects motion. The camera can also upload screen shots of the video to an FTP server when motion is detected. Another available feature is to have the camera upload screen shots of the video to an FTP server at set time intervals.
Multiple Users? Yes, multiple users can view the camera at the same time. The primary limitation will be the upload speed of the internet connection the camera is using. Most residential Internet connections can smoothly handle 2-3 concurrent users.
Multiple Cameras? Yes, you can have multiple cameras. The upload capacity of the Internet connection the cameras are using is the only limiting factor. Another neat feature is when viewing multiple cameras with a browser (IE only) you can setup a "matrix" view. This displays the video of multiple cameras on the same screen, like a security system. Also, the mobile apps let you see "thumbnails" of multiple cameras at the same time allowing you to select the one you want for primary viewing.
Installation requires you to configure the camera and your router, so being familiar with your router is recommended. The NextStep documentation and support can help anyone successfully install the system.

Limitations of Support:
[Wi-Fi] We support your setup with the camera plugged into your router. Due to possible password issues we do not assist with wireless setup. The camera works great wirelessly and setup is straight forward, but we're leaving this one to you. The included documentation provides clear instructions for setting up the camera wirelessly.
[Advanced Features] The advanced FTP and Email features require the use of ports that Internet providers often block. Because of this, we are unable to assist you with getting them setup. Documentation is available on how to configure these features.

Configuring an IP camera to be viewable beyond your local network is a frustrating and sometimes impossible task for most consumers.
